The Gaslight District unveils its Grand Opening weekend July 28-30
The public spaces of The Gaslight District in Cambridge Ontario have been in the planning and construction phase for over seven years, but come July 28th – 30th the work will be over and the
fun will begin in spectacular fashion. This 1 acre public square, surrounded by century old limestone foundry buildings is the creation of HIP Developments who invested $250 million into
transforming the area from being a defining aspect of our industrious past into a defining aspect of our vibrant, collaborative and joyful future.
“This is a new kind of public place designed to connect people through the act of play with strangers and neighbours…for FREE.” says Scott Higgins, President of HIP Developments.
The Gaslight District is a new kind of “Infrastructure for the human spirit” that helps people freely play in public in ways that start to define an inclusive community identity. I want to wake
the fun up within Cambridge and prove that the greatest measure of an inclusive city is how much fun you can have for FREE.
“After 7 years of planning and battling through the Pandemic as a hospitality start up – we have grown impatient and bursting with excitement to unveil an amazing playground for the
Citizens of Cambridge and beyond.” Says the Gaslight District’s Creative Director, Kyle Priestley. “The Grand Opening event is hands down the most important and meaningful project
we have ever done. This event is our gift to the community for supporting us every step of the way through this project as we strive to create jobs, meaningful free events for everyone and and
a culture of art, business and entertainment. “
The Gaslight District’s Grand Opening Weekend will feature performances by Juno-nominated bands like Walk Off The Earth and Big Wreck, as well as Tebey, and Vilivant, and many, many
more!
